Weather in Pucallpa

The weather in Pucallpa is tropical, so, I suggest tourists to get sunblock, comfortable shoes, sandals, clothes especially t-shirts with long sleeves due to mosquitos, taking a bottle of water, anti-insects lotion, etc. Some of the hotels especially 3* and 4* have air conditioner at the rooms.

Yarinacocha Lagoon

The most important tourist attractions are: Yarinacocha Lagoon, 11 de Agosto and San Francisco native communities. At those communities, there are chamans who offer Ayahuasca sessions and retreats to visitors. Besides, outside the city, there are the Padre Abad Boqueron, Ducha del Diablo (in English,The Devil’s waterfall), Velo de la Novia (in English, The Bride’s Veil waterfall), etc.

Local gastronomy

Its gastronomy offers local products of the region, so you can find local restaurants which are popular and there are few which offer western food. Souvenirs consist of handicrafts and sometimes animal´s dried-skin or dried-animals. Locals are hospitable, easy-going, cheerful and helpful.

Hotels in Pucallpa

The accomodation service has mainly hostels, 3* and 4* hotels: Ucayali River, Sol del Oriente and the Manish Resort which is located outside the city. Some travel agents or tour guides speak English.
Pucallpa is less touristy than Iquitos if you consider exploring the jungle while in Peru.
